As a former BASIC/QuickBasic programmer, I was looking to begin programming in a 64 bit language. From reading this book, it appears that Python is the language best suited to my needs.

I just got the book and was surprised to find that it is a small thin book, I don't think it is really worth the cost. I will have to be more careful next time.

So here's what my situation was- I (stupidly) waiting about 6 months after I had finished taking the EMT class before I tried to take the test for the first time, and I barely studied at all. I figured I could just reason my way through the questions and get a passing score. Boy was I wrong. My test shut off after 70 questions, which means you either did REALLY good or REALLY bad. Turns out it was really bad. I failed every section except for one. So then due to a busy schedule, I wasn't able to attempt the test again until 5 months after that. That's when I decided to give this book a try. About a week before my test I started reading through it, breaking it up into small sections for each day. I didn't make note cards or use the note card app, but I did read it very carefully to be sure I was absorbing the material. Then the night before my test I took the provided online practice test. This test felt very easy (I think I got like 86% correct) so I was feeling pretty confident. The next morning I take my test and I felt like I was absolutely bombing it. There were questions coming out of left field that were never mentioned in the class or this book. And then, once again, it shut off at 70 questions. As you can imagine I wasn't feeling particularly confident at that time, but the next day I checked the website to see that coveted "Congratulations" message. I passed! Not only did I pass, I killed it. My point- Buy this book. It has everything that you need to pass the test no matter your starting point. My advice for the test- Make sure you know the patient assessment procedure like the back of your hand, know your ABC's (or CAB if the patient is unresponsive), know the normal vital signs, know the 6 or so medications detailed in the book, and know the most important medical conditions (shock, stroke, burns, anaphylaxis, etc) and you will be good to go. No matter how well you know your stuff, you're going to walk out feeling like you failed. The test is designed to make you feel this way. So don't stress out. Read this book, read it again, and go pass that test

I took my EMT class in 2015. I took my practical exam in July of 2016, since then I have not opened a book. I needed to obtain my EMT license for the current job that I hold. I downloaded two apps on my iPhone and did multiple practice tests. The tests were helping, but I did not understand the information, only how to take a test. I purchased this book, read it at work and did practice tests. I am not a fan of reading and never have been. Constantly putting books down and forgetting about them, which isn't helpful when you need to study. I took my written exam for the first time in June of 2016. I failed it. I felt terrible and dumb like I could not obtain any information. I kept putting my test date off to take my exam because I felt stupid. Finally I cracked down, did some research and purchased this book.The way that this book is broken down into bullet points for each chapter was much more manageable for me to comprehend. A combination of reading this book and taking practice tests on the app Pocket Prep (EMT) helped my pass my written exam in January of 2017. Nearly two years after the start of my EMT course. I highly suggest this book for anyone who needs a boost with studying and a simple breakdown of all the unnecessary information loaded into the EMT book itself which bogs your mind down.

This is a review for the book EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Crash Course Book + Online (EMT Test Preparation), which is a review and study guide/test preparation tool for the NREMT Cognitive Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) Certification Exam. As listed on the front cover and the Amazon product page, the book includes the material in the book as well as (supposedly) an online access code for a "free online practice exam" which covers all the areas of the NREMT and will help "to pinpoint where you're strongest and where you need to focus."I'll start with the bad: The online access code does not work at all. I have no idea whether the website itself simply no longer works or what the issue is. However I purchased the book brand new from Amazon, largely based on the fact that it included the online access code. When I went to register it on the website I received an error that the code wasn't accepted or recognized. After trying to enter it multiple times the website displayed a screen stating the code wasn't in the database and that it would send a message to the site administrators and give me access to the content temporarily while they addressed the issue. However, after confirming the code again and submitting that 'verification' page the website then displayed ANOTHER error stating it could not submit that data and giving me no way forward. I e-mailed the only contact address on the website, but did not receive a response. If I do eventually receive access to the online website and practice test I will update this review with a detailed evaluation of the online component.In looking through recent reviews it appears I am not the first person to have problems with online access codes for the EMT book failing to work in 2016, but those negative reviews are not being generally displayed to Amazon customers prior to purchase due to their standard filtering settings. As a result of the multiple recent reviews with this same problem I'm unsure whether the website and online access simply no longer work, or are a marketing ploy. Especially if you are looking for review with an online component before testing in the near future I would not recommend buying this book, as even if the publisher does eventually fix this problem and get me a working online access code to a working website, I will have lost a good chunk of valuable study time - I test in under 2 weeks.That said, there is some good news about the book itself: The book shows an original copyright date of 2012, but a publication date of 2016, so it appears to have been updated or at least reviewed somewhat recently. The information and questions in it seem to be reasonably current and generally match with what was in the standard AAOS 10th edition (2011) EMT textbook, and I personally like the format. As you can see in the photo the chapters are basically an outline-type rundown of the major information and facts that you should know for your exam. They present the critical and important information, and seem to omit a lot of the 'filler' information that recent EMT textbooks delight in throwing at students.Do keep in mind that this book is NOT intended to teach you to be an EMT from scratch -- it won't replace your textbook or a formal EMT course entirely, so if it's been a year or more since your course and you're just now looking to test you'd be well served to break out your formal textbook and reread some of the actual chapters, especially on anything you feel weak on, as well. The book also includes information on how to prepare for the NREMT Computer Adaptive Test exam itself, and some tips on how to take a CAT-based test which is very different from typical pen-and-paper exams, or even from a traditional computer based test where you're able to skip and go back to questions, etc.If you're only purchasing this book as a stand-alone, physical book to use as a review tool for your NREMT then it may be worthwhile, especially if you can get it either used or inexpensively. However, if you are looking to buy it with the intention of using the online portion then as of 2016 I would not purchase it until the publisher and multiple current reviews have confirmed that they have fixed their problems

After failing the NREMT exam i found this book and downloaded it onto my kindle, this is the only study material you will need to pass the exam. I have failed the exam 4 times in the course of 3 years and after reading through this book i finally passed.

If you can handle 400 pages and hundreds of end-notes explaining why Sunday is NOT the "new" Sabbath of the Decalogue, and have plenty of time on your hands and a burning hunger to settle issues that may seem minor or taken for granted, this book is for you!Seriously, it tackles the subject like I've never read before, with penetrating insight into the biblical and historical meaning of the Sabbath from creation until now, and the genesis and growth of Sunday's significance from New Testament times until now. It covers the sticky subject of the purpose and relevance of the Law of Moses, and touches on other subjects as well, to reach a conclusion that is iron-clad and more relevant to worship practices than one might think. Sources are taken from any and all traditions, sacred and secular, as well as firm bible exegesis. D. A. Carson did well to lend his time and formidable name to this study.

Though Carson contributes to this work, it contains a number of other contributions from excellent authors. In my opinion A.T. Lincoln does a masterful job of honing in on key issues in an evenhanded exegetical manner. If you want a top of the line scholarly work on the Sabbath issue, this is it. Unfortunately, two of the other reviews are very misleading. First, though I can see his passion, one reviewer either failed to read the book, or didn't understand it. He attempts to post a defense of the Sabbath (seventh-day) view in his review. Sadly, it contains many less than convincing points that are thoroughly dealt with in lessor works such as Perspectives on the Sabbath - 4 views, which actually does have a good defense of the seventh-day view by Skip MacCarty. The second review suggests that one must first read Samuele Bacchiocchi before reading this work. Though he is referenced over 50 times, let's put it in perspective. These authors reference close to 1000 works according to their Bibliography, not including Scripture. So, to say one must read Bacchiocchi is very much untrue, however helpful it might be to read his title and others.Lastly, the title of this work is could be somewhat confusing. This book is NOT an argument for transferring the Sabbath to Sunday. It fact it refutes such a transference theology.Overall, this is a very solid book written by outstanding scholars who do an excellent job of handling the Biblical text in an evenhanded, exegetical manner. It's a must have.

This book is not for the faint of heart. This is no cursory treatment of the issue of the Sabbath. It is an in-depth, academic treatment. If you're really looking to dive in deeply, this is a great tool. If you're looking for something lighter, look elsewhere. This is long and heavy.

It gives great insight to the initial responses and interpretations to the finished work of Christ and then how things would ebb an flow during later periods of time. It was done in a spirit of relating observations for what substantiated their evaluation and not trying to prove another understanding wrong. However, it did a good job of presenting their observations that made it clear what the differences were and why. It has been very helpful for me in that it provided solid reasoning for what I thought I believed, yet i would not have been able to articulate it even to my self.Unless you have the time, the gift/skill, and motivation for research into the depths and you want to understand why anyone could possibly say that there is a difference about how one commandments requirement could change, then it is a great resource.
