This is one of my favorite reference books as a Plant Manager while taking Lean initiatives, such as Standard Work and Continuous Improvement. I found that the quantitative sections are very useful to enhance analytical skills to take effective actions.Two suggestions to future versions. Firstly, a CD-ROM containing the working sheets in book will reduce work to duplicate by readers. Secondly, more quantitative examples are required to clarify concept in detail so that it might expedite learning (at least in Chapter 2 to 4).Overall, I recommend it to Lean leaders and Plant Managers.

I bought this book on a whim, persuaded that I had read it before. I was mistaken and pleasantly surprised by the book. For a change, it features a hero with body image issues and a heroine who is intelligent and active. The titular character is big. And dark. And ugly. He broods about this, not believing that anyone can look beyond this and see the beauty and love that lies beneath, just waiting to be awakened. Until he meets Jessica Trent, that is. She has the insight to realize what is hidden beneath the cover of a devil, and the ability to waken the angel buried inside.A truly delightful read, with enough spice to make the readers' hearts flutter, and enough smartness never to insult their intelligence. This is the first Loretta Chase novel I've read, but it is far from the last.

LORD OF SCOUNDRELS is without a doubt a beautiful love story and surely Loretta Chase's most beloved and popular romance of all time. It's a touching, humorous, and truly endearing romance and a re-read for me. The attraction, chemistry, passion, and love between Dain and Jessica is utterly breathtaking... Jessica is easily one of the top, if not best heroine I've ever come across. Dain on the other hand I never completely fell in love with and while I felt compassion for him as a child, the man was an entirely different matter. Overall he came off as too self-absorbed and pitying for me personally.With that being said, I still thought this was a breathtaking romance and can see what so many readers love about it, I just didn't think it was perfect. The ending seemed rather rushed, and I couldn't quite buy into Dain's turnaround regarding his son. Then there were the troublemakers who seemed silly and not quite fitting... All in all however, this is an unforgettable tale of true love and soul mates. Simply a remarkable story told by an amazing author, and one that will surely touch your heart. I would definitely recommend this book as well as its sequel "The Last Hellion" which I absolutely adored!

If I could give Lord of Scoundrels ten stars, I would. I've long heard this is a book considered canon for historical romance readers, and I absolutely agree. Lord of Scoundrels is a delicious, complex, wickedly fun and outrageous story.Lord of Scoundrels is also the story of an unloved boy who became an unlovable man. Or so Dain thought. From the heartwrenching prologue -also one of the best I've ever read - we learn exactly why Dain is who he thinks he should be. This dark and unforgettable prologue is always hovering in the reader's mind, so that when Dain acts like an overbearing brute, you know exactly why. As a reader, Dain never lost me, even at his worst.And, Jess. In all my life, Jess is going to go down as one of the best, most remarkable, strongest, smartest, and unabashedly stubborn heroines I will ever read. The way she worked to understand the man beneath Dain's beastly facade, her patience at working to the very root of his internal struggles, her unwillingness to be complacent, a victim, and the very fact she freaking SHOT HIM IN THE ARM, makes Jess unforgettable. Then there's the way Jess loved Dain. By the standards of Regency England, Dain was considered a big, ugly brute. He'd been ridiculed for his looks since childhood, and he believed that. But here's the deal: I didn't have a clear image for him in my mind, but I knew he WAS beautiful. And the reason why is, Jess thought he was the most beautiful, virile, overwhelmingly masculine man who'd ever existed. I don't honestly care what Dain looked like. I don't know or care if the hero is handsome or appealing, as long as the heroine does.I loved Jess and Dain. I loved them together. Theirs is very much a story of when Beauty tamed the Beast. It was a battle of wits, of two people who each wanted the upper hand, which almost always went to Jess. I love how she mentally tied him in knots, knew exactly how, when, and what to say to Dain, to bring out the man, the abandoned and unloved child, behind the beastly demeanor. I love how Dain tried so hard to hold the line on Jess, but almost immediately contradicted any harsh words or actions he directed her way.And Dominick's story, and how it changed Dain? Forget it. I was reduced to a crying fool.Lord of Scoundrels turned out to be one of my favorite books I've ever read. I cherish it, and will reread it many times in my life, as well as recommend the heck out of it. My only regret is that I will never again get that first time back.

SPOILERS INCLUDED BELOWThere have been worse heroes that I have read about then Dane but thankfully not many.He treated women, including the heroine, and his son, like dirt. He called his illegitimate son "it" as well as nasty other names ,for the sole reason that his child reminded him of himself. Just because Dane was neglected and bullied as a child does not given him a pass to treat others that way. He had to be forced by the heroine to providing his son with a home. If not for the heroine he would have ignored his son even though his son was basically homeless and living on the streets.Before the heroine Dane would only have smex with prostitutes. All women, even those who are not ladies of the night, he refers to as tarts and trollops.The heroine may have been "strong" when it came to a lot of things, she wasn't when it came to Dane. She bent over backwards for him while he was verbally abusive to her. She basically forced him to marry her. On their wedding night he got drunk with friends and ignored her and it was not until days later that she seduced him, giving him her v-card. She would not leave him but rather after married insisted on following him everywhere.I like my heroes to be jealous and possessive but the heroine was more jealous and possessive than Dane was, which made sense since before she married him she saw a lot of prostitutes on his lap and getting physical with him.The only thing that I liked about the hero was that he stopped having smex with OW after meeting the heroine. However it was not for lack of trying. Poor baby.

I was a little worried after the second book, which I liked but it was definitely a middle book. I was worried we would be dragged along and only get a HEA until 95% ...But, nope. It was apparent Goldie couldn't stay away from Jett. And when started trying to win her back - I knew it was only a matter of time.What happened at Rex's? I won't spoil that. And Lot 17? We know who should and will get it ...I enjoyed this series so much and was happy to see at the end that the Author has so many spin offs planned! So fun.Now, I must go discover more about the dark Kace.

This book has all the emotions!Annoyed. Excited. Hopeful. Happy. Sad. Steamy. Hot.You’re going to need to buckle up for this third book of the Bourbon seriesThis book does come together and closes up the first three books nicely.And it leaves you feeling happy and satisfied for Jett & Goldie’s future.It’s a warm happy ending that fills your heart with hope.Excellent series!Now I’m off to start the next book about Kace.

I loved this series, it's like Fifty Shades of Grey but less predictable and Jett Colby seems much hotter than Christian! Especially after Jamie Dornan was chosen as Christian... Anyway, Goldie cracked my s*** up! I swear that she and I share the same whacky personality and sense of humor. I must admit, I kinda routed for Kase through a lot of the series, but I was still happy that Goldie ended up with Jett. But I cannot wait for Kase's story! That's going to need to happen like now! Meghan Quinn is an amazing author and so far every book I've read has made me laugh out loud, thus receiving crazy looks from those around me, oh well.

This was the conclusion to Goldie and Jett's story. And this was an emotional and surprise filled book. It kept you on your toes from the very beginning to the very end.

What a powerful, funny, eventful story! I won't lie, I shed a tear here and there. How could you not??? Whether it was from sadness or bcuz you couldn't figure out how her mind conjured up such phrases LMAO. Jett is life!

The only bad thing about this book is that the trilogy is over. Love Jett and Goldie and found their last book to be some of their best work. This author brings you right into New Orleans with an original storyline and characters you love, not only the main but all of the secondary. Like I said the only bad thing to say is I'm sorry it is over. Welll done Meghan Quinn.

Okay, I paid up front and waited several days for my order, I got it, why should I have to say anything here. When I go to the store I do have to do this! It's kind of irritating getting these emails asking for positive feedback.

The title of this book, 'Awakening the Mind, Lightening the Heart' is, in essence, the core topic of this book. This book is entirely dedicated on teaching us how to awaken our minds and lighten our hearts.His Holiness's eloquence and understanding of compassion are great and vast as an ocean. I realized this while reading the book. It took me over two months' time to get to page 30, because I was determined on completely understanding and grasping the meanings of each page before I moved onto the next. I was also determined to apply each page's teachings into my life before I'd move onto the next. How wrong I was to think I would finish this book in a timely fashion.I would read a few pages, then set the book aside and contemplate on the teachings. I'd carry His Holiness's words in my heart and my mind as I went about my day's events. I'd go back to read the book, thinking I'd pick up where I left off. While skimming through the pages I had already read, I'd stop and notice that I realized something about a paragraph. How curious, I had already read it, but suddenly it was as if I were reading it again with fresh eyes, and I'd learn yet something else. Doing this again and again, it took me two months before finishing page 30. Then I'd look back on the past few months and realize I had basically changed into a much more patient and caring person.I started on this book a long while back, and I'm still discovering and rediscovering truths and revelations in His Holiness's simple words.The reason I provided the small anecdote is because this book can last you a lifetime if you apply His Holiness's teachings into your life. There is a lifetime's worth of lessons to be learned from the seemingly simple exterior of his teachings.This book basically starts us at the basics and teaches us the fundamentals of Buddhism. What is suffering? What is the cause of suffering? How do we overcome suffering? The Dalai Lama goes over the Four Noble Truths and the Three Poisons (ignorance, greed, hatred) in such a friendly, warm, simple and engaging manner that we can't help but sit there and listen. I felt as if I were a preschooler listening to my favorite teacher while reading this book, and truly, when reading this book with an open, receptive mind, you'll feel as if you're re-learning all the basics about everything. It's as if we've walked all our lives in a manner that has caused us to trip and fall constantly, and here His Holiness is giving us a guide that teaches us why we were walking incorrectly, why our previous way of walking would cause us to fall, and finally, how to practice walking correctly in a manner that won't cause us to fall and hurt ourselves.Usually, I review books and items pretty harshly. I'll point out descrepancies, things I didn't like, etc. I'm at a loss with this book. I've been a Buddhist for my entire life and after reading this book, I realized just how far from understanding I was. Don't be fooled by the deceptive simplicity of this book. It's one thing to read something and understand it, but in trying to apply it, this book will provide a lifetime's worth of lessons, knowledge, and understanding. It's as if the closer you come to accepting what the Dalai Lama always teaches -- compassion -- the more understanding you gain from the book that perhaps you never saw there before.This is a book, I feel, that anybody can read. All it does is offer insight into suffering, what causes us to suffer, and how we overcome suffering. It's not about His Holiness preaching on and on about the Dharma. It's about him taking the best of the Dharma and bringing it to you in a very reader-friendly format, coupled with his own explanations.I couldn't think of anything better.

I have been reading the book each day,it has become so well worn I decided to buy another.The concise step-by-step information appealed to me. The book is well written, illustrating a clear path to enlightenment through wisdom and compassion. The simple steps guide the reader to an easy understanding of the peace and beauty of a compassionate life. I was drawn to discovering more about Tibetan Buddhism after reading "some of the dharma" by Jack Kerouac. In contrast, this book by the Dalai Lama compelling in its advice about the importance of disciplining the mind. Kerouac struggled with these issues, and may have found some measure of comfort had he had this book available to him.

Core Teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. I can't recommend this series high enough.

The teachings and the wisdom written by His Holiness is incredible. I regret not knowing his teachings during childhood. The book is an easy read and quite powerful. I shall meditate each day in hopes of following His teachings. I have passed it along to a good friend and am looking forward to reading it again.

This book was by far the best book on the subject. It even gave us some ideas for video blogging that we hadn't previously considered. Without the precise and coherent coverage given to Podcasting in this book I doubt we would have a solution even half as good. Thanks to the authors for their great book. It has been invaluable.

I considered buying this as its listed as being a 2013 publication but on closer reading it seems it was 1st published in 2006 and is being republished on Kindle in 2013 but it doesn't appear to have ben updated.............if so this is misleading given how much the subject has changed since then.

This is an absolutely stunning knitting book. I had the pleasure of meeting the author twice when I visited her store in Kirkwood, Missouri. At the time, she was working on a lace project she had designed. I saw some of her finished projects in her store, The Kirkwood Knittery, and realized that I was in the company of an amazing designer. This book is a compilation of some of her designs.The Introduction discusses the basics of lace knitting including the following: - one doesn't need to use tiny needles to knit lace - lace designs can be knit with any weight yarn - lace should be knit with yarns that can hold a block - gauge is essential when knitting lace - "Lace knitting is extremely flexible and stretchy." - how to work a lace chart - the provisional cast on - the belly button cast on - nupps - short rows - lace bind off - how to fix mistakes in lace knittingThe projects are divided into four types - Triangles, Rectangles, Circles and Squares. Each of these types includes four patterns. I love the Flutter Shawl, a triangle pattern. It is long and narrow, knit side to side. As Ms. Nico states, "It is a great shawl for those smaller skeins of yarn, or for when you aren't sure how much yarn you have! You will simply increase until you have used up half your yarn, and then begin decreasing for the second half of the shawl." The shawl is a a beautiful deep pink with an "ethereal quality". The Japanese Leaf Scarf is a rectangle pattern and is reversible. Knit in a lovely light blue, it has a Japanese leaf motif. There are instructions for knitters who would like to turn this scarf into a stole. The circle and square patterns took my breath away; they are that beautiful. I especially love The Poinsettia Jacket knit in a deep wine red. It is knit with fingering weight yarn. It looks extremely difficult to me but I could look at the picture for hours and dream of being a good enough knitter to make this. The Dahlia Shawl is my other favorite design. It is knit in an alpaca lace weight yarn and is comprised of four triangles. I think it would make a lovely baby blanket as well as a shawl. The Aster Shirt is stunning and is made from two squares that are seamed together. Knit with linen yarn, the shirt is fitted through the torso and looser at the upper body.The book finishes with additional motifs for the knitter to try outThis knitting book contains some of the most beautiful lace patterns I've seen. However, there is a caveat. It is not for a beginning knitter. I think that one would need to be an advanced knitter to attempt these patterns. Perhaps I'm wrong but they appear quite difficult to me. I recommend that every one who loves lace knitting acquire this book. The patterns are beautiful to look at and are an inspiration for any knitter.

LOVELY KNITTED LACE is a collection of pretty designs for knitted lace jackets, sweaters, scarves, stoles, and shawls. As designer Brooke Nico discovered, after knitting "shawl after shawl", there is "a limit to how many shawls one person can own." This book is the result of designer Nico's experimentation with turning basic shapes--triangles, rectangles, circles, and squares--into lovely, wearable, knitted lace garments.Knitters who are interested in designing their own lace garments will find the "design notes" that accompany each pattern to be especially worth reading. For example, the description of the Posies Wrap begins: "This simple wrap is the perfect social knitting project. It's a big rectangle, with armholes created by casting on and then binding off stitches, and its simplicity is the key to its form. The end result is a vest . . . with asymmetrical fronts . . . ." These design notes give real insight into Nico's personal creative process.LOVELY KNITTED LACE isn't a technical reference book, but it does include a lot of solid discussion of lace knitting technique. Adventurous intermediate knitters should be able to knit the designs after reading the included explanations. Most of the patterns have both written out and charted instructions. The patterns call for a variety of yarn weights (light worsted to laceweight) and knitting needle sizes (US 8 to US 2). The more fitted garments have instructions for two or three sizes. The fact that many patterns use US 4 and larger needles makes this book a good choice for new lace knitters--the stitches are easier to track, and the projects don't take forever to finish.My personal favorites are the Camellia Dolman, a large cashmere cape with "feathers" that begin at the neckline and end at the lower hemline (details of hem and front buttonband are well thought out); and the Starry Nights Bolero, a drapey bolero-shaped top that is knitted from luxury yarn and constructed from two rectangles. However, there is not a single design in this collection that I wouldn't be willing to knit and wear!The patterns are:Triangles: Triangle Tulip Shawl; Flutter Shawl; Poppy Shawl; Floral Tunic (pullover sweater)Rectangles: Japanese Leaf Scarf; Cables and Lace Stole; Butterfly Stole; Posies Wrap; Starry Nights Bolero (bolero top)Circles: Angel Shawl; Poinsettia Jacket (long-sleeved sweater with peplum at back); Traveling Vines Cape/Skirt (convertible garment); Orange Crush Beret (hat); Camellia Dolman (button-front cape, shown on book cover)Squares: Dahlia Shawl; Aster Shirt (loose tabard-like pullover); Birch Jacket (long-sleeved shrug); Moondance Shrug (shrug with elbow-length sleeves)

I have been accused of buying almost every knitting book that is published. Actually, I am very selective. I do not want to buy just a book of pretty patterns. I want a book to teach me something and to further inspire me to create something of my own design as well because at the heart of it all, I am a designer who rarely knits a pattern as written. This book did not disappoint me. I love it! The book starts by showing the usual steps a knitter will need to know to follow the patterns in the book, casting on, binding off, wrap and turns etc. The book is divided into basic pattern shapes. Triangles, Squares, Rectangles and Squares, offers different methods that the shape is knitted with patterns to match. The patterns were lovely, different than what I have seen in other books. Ms Nico is very inventive. Some of the patterns are indeed very challenging, and could have used more diagrams to show pattern shapes or illustration on how the garment would be finished in the final steps. Also, the diagrams could have used measurements. But this is not enough to deter me from knitting or re designing several of the patterns. This is a book that is more for a knitter with some experience under their needles. However, if you have a sense of adventure, dive in. That is the way to learn. The writer favors edging with Stockinette stitch, liking its soft edge and the way it will roll. However, for garments, my opinion is that this edge will stretch, a garter edging is better. With knitting, each knitting has their own preferences on how they like their projects to look and be finished. So is there really any right and wrong? Probably not.This will most likely be a book that combined with stitchonaries will be used quite frequently for inspiration. I hope that Ms Nico will write a second edition of more patterns!

This book describes a woman who was fascinated by the stars as a child and grew up to be a fantastic scientist. Although as an adult I know that Margaret Hamilton is an important role model for kids, my kids just love this book. They are really interested in the idea of someone growing up to be a scientist! I think they like reading biographical stories, and this one is just their speed. My son (2) and daughter (5) both adore it. I found out about this book because I will buy anything by Lucy Knisley, and her illustrations are enchanting as always. My kids choose this book pretty frequently for bedtime reading.

This ode to problem-solving celebrates a star of the 1960s space program most of us have never heard of, the brilliant computer scientist Margaret Hamilton. From a young age, Margaret devoted herself to solving problems of every sort, including the problems girls faced in a world with few opportunities for them. Inspired by her poet/philosopher father, Margaret gazed into the night sky and asked big questions about the universe. That led to a career in computer science, a newfangled field that allowed her to solve problems on an unimaginable scale. She became director of software engineering for male-dominated NASA and wrote the code that got astronauts to the moon. "Margaret and the Moon" is an exciting account of Hamilton's life for young readers, climaxing with a heroic instance of problem-solving that helped save the first moon landing and won her a Presidential Medal of Freedom. The text makes a career in math and science seem positively thrilling, and the illustrations are packed with visual jokes and gorgeous representations of outer space. This is a fantastic book, telling the story of how Margaret Hamilton's code saved the Apollo 11 mission. My four year old loves reading this.

Great book for young and old readers with a history lesson thrown in. My granddaughter loved it, checked it out at the library but did not want to return it so had to buy the book to let her keep her own copy.

I love this book! Simple & well written, but gave a great jumping point for conversations about computers, astronauts, and mathematics with my children (a boy and a girl). I love that it highlights Margaret's contributions to the NASA programs and is so encouraging to young kids to solve problems and dream big dreams.

As an actor in a production of Merry Wives of Windsor it was really nice to have such detailed information.

The Arden editions are the best. This one did not disappoint. I'll be performing Ford this summer; and now I have a secret weapon!

The Merry Wives of Windsor is quite an interesting play. It involves Sir John Falstaff, who has been in other Shakespearean plays, arriving in Windsor virtually broke and deciding to go after rich married women. Naturally, going after rich and married women will not end well, and the women get their revenge.The play itself isn't one of Shakespeare's greatest, but is still a good play. And it's free, so give it a try - you might like it.

Great book. I love the story. The author did a wonderful job. I love the entire series. Can't wait to ready the next one!

Having only read the text, and never seen it performed, it strikes me as one of Shakespeare's weaker efforts - and may have been, by some evidence, a rush job. By comparison, A COMEDY OF ERRORS is both funnier AND more serious, while one gets the sense here that in the midst of all the shenanigans there's never anything *really* at stake. (Although this was far less puzzling once I discovered that MWW is essentially a comedic addendum to the two-part HENRY IV.)As always, of course, the Arden edition is lovely, and the copious notes are tremendously helpful - especially in a play such as this, where so many of the jokes come from plays on words and phrasings which fell out of use centuries ago.

Great book! Loved it!

Did no one proof the scan? The thing is so full of typos as to be nearly unreadable. The Bard's work is as good as ever, but this scan of it dishonors it. Pay the money for something that has passed an editor's desk.

Bought this for my wife, whose bone density test last time was surprising. Very good solid book, not a doctor or researcher herself, but she refers to good research and puts it all together into a nice, coherent, well-organized, well-written, well-thought out book. She convinced me that I should get a bone density test, myself, citing the numbers of men who suffer fractures in their 60s and 70s. She has strong opinions against using the pharmaceutical drugs normally prescribed and gives convincing arguments for avoiding them. She goes into which nutrients and supplements are most helpful in countering bone loss and what kinds of exercises. These include very specific data and arguments that are sound and valid and worth reading about and considering. I think it's important to also read other books on the same subject before deciding on a final course of action, so I purchased two others for my wife (Dr. Lani's No Nonsense Bone Health Guide and The Complete Book of Bone Health by D. Schneider) and these are also great reads for health-related books and very informative, and have a lot of info not in Pizzorno's book that help balance out and add to what we learned here. My wife and I are both long-time health geeks who have a huge library of books on nutrition, health, exercise, etc. and have tried and experimented with many of the ideas we've learned about with many good results and few bad ones. This and the other 2 books I mentioned are all worthwhile and compare favorably to most health related books out there. I would recommend them and we will no doubt hang onto them for some time.

As a health care provider, I was impressed by the depth of research that the authors did and their extensive knowledge of bone physiology, which was excellent. But there is a caveat: whenever an author seems to be selling something, I back off, and that was the case here. These authors endorse a certain combination of supplements, some of which i think are excessive and not well researched. So I would recommend this book for gaining understanding of the condition, and also for a thorough discussion of the drugs in common usage for osteoporosis, all of which pose significant risks to some women who might choose to take them. The nutritional section is also quite well done.

This book SHOULD be read by everyone facing the "antique" category, and WOMEN in their 20's NOT til your life is destroyed by Osteoporosis do you realize the price you pay for little things later in life like pop and milkshakes.This book was bought just as my wife was prescribed Bisphosphonates - after a fractured disk - her entire bone history was mishandled because, REALLY, medical community seems to HAVE no non-prescription way to handle this. As our Pharmacist says - its all we have. Our Chiropractor - who by the way, found the osteopenia that everyone else had missed, and in the FIRST visit about 5 years ago - MY urologist, another well-known pharmacist I heard speak, and OTHERS, have all said basically the same thing - that bisphosphonate treatment is almost worse than the disease itself; and OVER time it may well be.One quote from a researcher in the book, about this drug "Why would ANYONE prescribe this?"There is an additional wealth of information as well - diet, etc that is NOT new to us. WE have a gym at home - my wife uses it maybe 10 hours a week. She eats carefully.Rather than the drug prescribed which is supposed to MAINTAIN your bone density we went looking for ways to INCREASE bone density. The book has a number of suggestions - we were already taking one of them when we bought the book. We asked her doctor about it when the prescription was given but she was unaware of alternatives. There are OTHER suppliments on the market that may be even MORE aggressive in restoring bone health, but we were comfortable with our choice.It's my wife that's been reading it, but the info I get across the table is that she thinks its a goldmine of information.The author, does, however, ignore the existence of pork. WE eat a lot of it. So the nutritional value info is missing in her charts.BUT that does NOTHING to invalidate the research. Its a "full marks" book for us.

Took such a long time to ship--but it's okay. It explains everything very simply; it covers all the basics but doesn't go into enough detail. It's a good book for people that have osteopenia and time to reverse the condition. I have severe osteoporosis so I prefer the more detailed books because I need to turn this around pronto--look at McCormick's book and get this one to accompany his detailed book.

Comprehensive, well written book. I had been taking Fosamax and did not like the way my bones felt, achy and sore. After reading this book, I realize that osteoporosis prescription medications may not be the best answer. I appreciated reading the scientific studies that back up the information and the "roadmap" with diet, exercise, and supplements that can help make my bones stronger and reverse the osteoporosis. I am a believer and have recommended this book to other women with osteopenia and osteoporosis.
