This was a fairly fun read, if you enjoy an awful lot of sex scenes. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the book was longer or paced better. The first half was moving okay, Nash coming to slowly accept his attraction to Royal, Royal and Zade dating, but at halfway through, nothing had moved forward with Nash and Royal, much less Zade, then it all starts moving way too fast and easily. Cramming in an unknown trans brother and custody battle into the last half, along with the actual threesome, ended up with everything being given very superficial treatment. Just too, perfect, too easy and no depth to the relationship at all. It was more like three frat bros and a teen. Plus, Madden and Thane’s story overlapped a bit into this one, so it’s just a mish-mash. If you want a fast moving, simplistic story with lots of steam, and no angst or worries, then it’s okay. Lots of little errors in editing but not enough to break up the reading experience.
Book 2 - More! More tattoos, more men, more men parts and more Heathens Ink!Yes that is three men you see on the cover. Yes, this is a gay ménage romance. No, it isn't porn. There are plenty of stories underlying the eventual ménage relationship that comes from this story. You can tell from this book that the author has a well thought out story and plot line for this series. There are plenty of side characters that could eventually roll off into spin offs or catch up novellas.Royal - by far my fav personality of the group - has no filter. Except when it comes to his unrequited love of his straight - or so we thought - best friend Nash. Enter Zade - a character we met in book one. Just out of the military and barely out of the closet, him and Royal have immediate chemistry and are on their way to becoming an exclusive couple. There is one problem though. Nash is giving off, 'I don't like Zade.' vibes. And not because he doesn't like the man for his best friend, but because he wants to be in. With both of them! When they decide to make a go of it, the heat may just melt your Kindle!Another side story happening is Liam. He is Royal's brother. The struggle to get Liam out of the same messed up situation that he had left brings an element of real life struggle to this story. Proving that K.M. Neuhold can write a story and still make it swoon worthy!It isn't necessary to have read book one, but if you love a series, and I am a series junkie, getting the little stories and inside jokes along the way makes the book that much more enjoyable.
After the emotions I felt while reading the first book of this series, Rescue Me, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with this book. So many times before I've seen authors come in with a strong start and just fizzle out or completely stall when it comes to finishing a series. Not K.M.! I've rarely had an author make me feel the emotions of their characters the way K.M. does! She gets your heart jumping and you find that little secretive smile gracing your face as you follow along with the sexy shenanigans of these men. We got to know a little of Nash & Royal in the first book, we even get to see some of Royal & Zade. But reading Going Commando you find yourself routing for and cringing in sympathy while you wait for these three sexy men to figure things out, and when they do, it's so far beyond sexy that if I'd have been reading a paperback it might have spontaneously combusted! These 3 men have so much love to give, I honestly don't think they could have been happy with just one partner. Part of this is shown with how quickly they all open their arms, hearts & home to a teenager others already considered unworthy, broken..And the glance given into book 3... gonna be a long couple of months waiting for From the Ashes
I was lucky enough to be given an advanced copy of this book.Royal, Zade, and Nash. Holy hotness, Batman! I LOVED this book SO much! The connection between all three men was just amazing and so beautifully done. Each man had a strong connection with the other two, so all three felt equal in the relationship. That is really hard to accomplish, but this author did it perfectly.Each character was well developed, believable, and relatable. I connected with each one and immediately started rooting for their happiness. They are perfect for one another.I’m so excited to read the next book in the series because I’ve already fallen in love with the secondary characters as well. This book will be re-read a million times over!
This was an okay read. Not too much angst, nor too much whine.That said, none of the characters are interesting enough to really stick out. Zade does a little more, mainly because his character is not so gender neutral. Gay men are not 14 year old girls and should not be written as such. "Hunky Marine" Seriously?I guess the problem I had was that I felt like I was not reading about gay men most of the time. I, mean, they could very well have been fem and flaming and that would have been okay because it would have been something. This was just, disappointing.
This is one of the books i was most looking foward to reading this year and although the wait for it seemed excruciatingly long at times it was so worth it. Going Commando is funny, witty, cute and sexy as hell. Zade is strong and dependable, Royal is funny and smart and Nash is just so sweet, loving and loyal. I absolutely loved these guys as individuals and as a couple. The way their relationship developed Into love was beautiful and the sex was hot!!!! And of course i just love that all the Heathens Ink gang is in the book. This is definitely a one click series for me.
This is my favorite of the Heathens Ink series. I found myself rereading it often enough that I bought a print copy, having bought an ebook copy after borrowing it through KU.It hits my catnips with Nash and Royal's part of the relationship being friends to lovers, as well as the building a family aspect that pops up part way through (trying not to have a spoiler!). I liked that is low angst - there are some bumps in their lives but Nash, Royal, and Zade communicate and work through everything together.
